Born 24 June 1987 in Rosario. He is currently plays for FC Barcelona and the Argentina National team as a attacking midfielder or fake center forward. At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency making his family moved to Europe, as Barcelona offered treatment for his disease.


His official debut for the first-team was on 16 November 2003 in the aged of 16. He play in a friendly match against Porto becoming the third-youngest player ever to play for Barcelona and youngest club player who played in La Liga.


At that time, Rijkaard was his coach and he said: " I'll never forget the fact that he lauched my career, that he had confidence in me while I was only sixteen"


In El Clasico, on 11 March 2007 saw Messi scored a hat-trick to earn 10-man Barcelona a 3-3 draw.
On 18 April 2007, he scored two goals during a Copa Del Rey semi-final against Getafe CF in which very similar to the Maradona famous goal in 1986 World Cup. Deco said: "It was the best goal I have ever seen in my life".
